Washing Time!

James and I are fixing up for the party.  The party is in two days.  It is James’s party.  James is going to be 3.  We only invited our grandparents to the party because Baby Jayla is little.

Be Still and Listen

Have you ever tried to be a bird watcher?  Jacob loves to watch for birds, so I promised him we would be bird watchers this morning.  We crawled out of bed, had quiet time with God, and with our bird guide, binoculars, camera, and a little brother and sister in hand, we headed out the door.  I had been listening to the birds chirp and sing all morning, so I thought finding birds would be a piece of cake.  I just knew we were going to get tons of great pictures and be identifying all different types of birds.  Boy, was I wrong.

As we walked through the pasture their chirps, songs, and tweets were beautiful, but we didn’t see one single bird at first.  They were hiding way up in the tops of the trees.  As we patiently listened and watched, I couldn’t help but think about how we can’t see our amazing Lord, but if we listen, we can hear Him.  He will speak to us!

He speaks to us through His word and the Holy Spirit nudges us gently every day.  No, we can’t see our God, but through faith and by listening to his cues, we know He is here.  He is directing us, guiding us, helping us to take the right path.  So, this morning the birds were a great reminder that even though I can’t see God, I cannot hide from Him. I choose to continue trusting and obeying Him!  I choose to continue seeking His will for my life and for my children’s lives.

Through faith we have to take the time to listen to Him.  If we listen and pray long enough, we will no longer be scared.  We will realize that we can’t hide from Him just like the birds finally realized they couldn’t hide from us!  Will you join me in stepping out and accepting God’s will for your life?

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

A Little Nervous!

So, why am I doing this?  Why am I starting a blog so the whole world, if they wish, can get a little glimpse of our lives?  Well, everyday as I watch my little monkeys (children) grow, I think to myself will I remember that cute saying, activity, or special event that just took place?  Will I remember them tomorrow, next week, next year, five years from now?  And the answer is No!

Lately, every time Jaden (my 5 year old) smiles at me, I long to remember the things she did and said when she was 6 months, one year, two years, etc.  And no, I don’t have amnesia, and I can remember some things if I sit and close my eyes and really go back in time.  But, I can’t see or remember everything that I want to.

There have been several times in the past two weeks where James (my two year old) has been so cute, and I even told myself to take a mental picture of what he just did.  But, guess what?  I have already forgotten what he did that was so cute!  So, from this day forward, I want to be able to record all of those cute sayings, activities, and special events with pictures and words.  This blog will be created by seeking God’s wisdom in order to express exactly how our little family is feeling on any given day. I have quickly realized that these precious gifts that God has let us borrow are going to grow up.  They are growing up!  I see them changing and growing everyday.  *Sigh*  And, I want to record the changes, smiles, hugs, and trials.  So, will you join me in praying that I fulfill the Lord’s will in this journey that the He has given me?

This is for them:
