Dear Jayla,
Happy 12th birthday, sweet girl! Make this year count, and enjoy it. Not too long from now, you will be a teenager. Things seem to change as the teenage years begin. You will be one step closer to reaching adulthood.

You are a smart, kind, and beautiful girl who is filled with a little bit of sass every once in a while. You have made me smile as I’ve watched you learn how to handle your emotions. I have had to do the same in my life. I’m glad we have been able to learn together.

I am thankful we have each other to go through this life together. The Lord blessed me extra special when he gave me a mini-me. Everyone comments on how much we are alike. They are right because you are like me in so many ways. You have a tender heart, which sometimes is portrayed as feelings of frustration. You are passionate about the people and animals you love. Don’t ever lose that passion for helping, even if you are sometimes misunderstood. As long as God knows your heart, that is all that matters.

I enjoyed dancing with you this year. Thanks for encouraging me to let go of my stage fright and perfectionism. The memories we made together will last a lifetime. You have always been one of my biggest encouragers, and you helped me step out of my comfort zone in a good way.

You are wonderfully made in God’s eyes. Don’t ever forget that. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will be with you wherever you go. I will also be your greatest cheerleader, standing on the sidelines cheering you on, similar to how you cheered on Caitlin Clark at one of her games in Indiana. I will pray for you and trust you will always follow the Lord.

Love Always,
Mom
