When God Says Wait

Sometimes, our desire is so strong that waiting for God’s perfect timing is difficult. Anxious fears creep up in the waiting, and insecurities place a cloud of doubt over our heads.

The what-ifs speak louder than the hope of the one who called us and gave us the burning desire.

What if He just asked our family to do this to see if we would say yes, but in the end, He won’t bring it to pass?

What if He decides to say no despite the many, many, many prayers that have been prayed over this issue for more than a year?

What if those in control don’t see things the same way we see them?

What if? What if? What if?

Then God says, “Hush my child. My will shall be done. I am the one in control. It will happen at the most perfect time if I want to bring it to pass. If I do not bring it to pass, you were willing, and that’s all I ask. But trust me to work out all of the details.”

Fear – a 4 letter word that steals our joy.

Hope – a 4 letter word that brings all joy and peace through the power of the Holy Ghost

We must be faithful. We must say yes when God puts a longing desire on our hearts. We must choose hope instead of fear. We must trust that the God who brought the Israelites out of Egypt can also do great work in our lives and in the lives of those we desire to help. There is so much at stake, and the waiting is so difficult.

But we must sit back and expect an incredible unfolding from the Great I Am! He’s the only one who calls us to do His work, and He’s the only one who can and will bring it to pass.

We must trust, obey, and watch God do amazing things. Today, I believe that commitment to the Lord and trust will bring this giant in front of us down in His perfect timing. It will happen if it’s meant to be, and nothing can get in His way. Nothing can stop Him.

And if He doesn’t bring it to pass, there is a good reason that He can see that we can’t. But until He shows me that His plans have completely changed from the longing and desire that He placed on our hearts, which seems like forever ago, I stand firm in believing that He is weaving together every detail into a beautiful story. I choose faith!

Romans 15:13 – Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Psalm 37:5 – Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

I have prayed about becoming a foster family for a year and a half…and then one night about 2 months ago, just like that my husband said to me “I think we can do it”. And here we are, starting the process and eagerly saying “YES” to where God is calling us. But I fear this exact thing. That he simply wanted our obedience but won’t bring it to pass. The thought of that disappointment is overwhelming and yet, I don’t want to do this without God’s blessing. Something I will wrestle with indefinitely through this process…THANK YOU for your encouragement today. It was exactly what I needed 🙂

    • Thank you for reading about our journey. God will see you through, and His plans are always best. You might enjoy reading the book Faith to Foster. It would be a great book to read before your first placement.
